My goal today is to use more time to make my decisions. I often find myself playing a lot of tables and acting really quickly on each decision even though I really have a lot more time than I realize. I rarely use my time bank and I think that as the pots get larger I should take more and more time to make my decision and think it out, even if I think I know what the right play is right away. Too often I quickly act and then as soon as i'm done clicking the button I realize I could have made a better decision. I want to remove that error from my game and make as many good plays as I am capable of making.

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with Q of diamonds Q of spades
4 folds, CO calls $1, 1 fold, SB raises to $4, Hero calls $3, CO calls $3

Flop: ($12.00) 3 of hearts 4 of clubs 7 of spades (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $10, CO calls $10, SB folds

Turn: ($32.00) 5 of spades (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

River: ($32.00) A of hearts (2 players)
Hero requests TIME, Hero bets $17, CO requests TIME, CO calls $17

The CO limper is 39/6 over 18 hands, the small blinds raiser is 20/10. I think his range is something like 88+,ATs+,KJs+,AJo+,KQo the limper can have a ton of garbage and some mediocre hands as well, probably nothing too strong, maybe slowplaying a big pair every now and then but not likely.

When the PFR checks I think his range is immediately weighted towards whiffed overcards that he's giving up with, so my attention is now mainly on extracting value on the limper. I bet 10/12 because this board is pretty connected and I figure he will call a decent sized bet with a wide range here. Putting him on a range that calls the flop is kinda hard and it may be wider than this but I think this is a decent continuing range to give him 88-33,A7s,97s,87s,75s+,64s+,54s,A7o
Board: 3h 4c 7s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 39.473% 38.93% 00.54% 23510 328.00 { 88-33, A7s, 97s, 87s, 75s+, 64s+, 54s, A7o }
Hand 1: 60.527% 59.98% 00.54% 36224 328.00 { QdQs }

So now on this turn that turns to:

Board: 3h 4c 7s 5s
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 61.140% 57.75% 03.39% 1423 83.50 { 88-33, A7s, 97s, 87s, 75s+, 64s+, 54s, A7o }
Hand 1: 38.860% 35.47% 03.39% 874 83.50 { QdQs }

So our equity has switched. I felt like this turn card improved his range quite a bit so that is why I checked in game. When he checks back I think his range is pretty weak, more weighted towards 1 pair hands looking to get to showdown, like an 87, or 97 type hand. I think he would have bet a straight a lot on the turn, and raised the flop or bet the turn with a set/two pair. So overall I think we're in pretty decent shape against his checking back range.

So on this river the only thing that improved against me is A7, I don't think he has any 2x hands in his range, so I bet for value. I choose 17/30 because I don't want to bet so big I scare off his medium strength hands i'm trying to get value from, but not so small that the bet looks like it could never be a bluff either.

BTN is a 28/9 no history before this.

I bet the flop with my gutter and over to try and take the pot down, I will barrel a lot of cards, only cards I won't barrel are a T or 7 that don't give me a FD, 2x, or maybe like a 6, if I bet a 6 I would be planning on betting the river too. All other cards I will bet the turn and likely give up on the river if I still have air, if I hit a pair I will likely value bet turn and or river depending on how strong it is.

On the turn I pick up some equity despite the T generally not being a good card to keep bluffing on. I bet to get him off of A hi random overs or a hand like 33-66. I don't plan on barreling many brick rivers, but I would bet a 9 or J for value.

On the river I have to be good 19% of the time. I think he could have a lower flush enough of the time to make calling profitable. Since the board is paired I think he would likely have raised larger with a boat, so i'm not really as worried about my hand being behind here. I think if I am beat it will be by the nut flush more than a boat.

  1. im wondering if 3bing the river in the 2nd hand is too thin.

  2. also there are some parameters that would make a river c/r much much better than a bet. can u think or arguments or situations that would make one better than the other for example if he always checks back 7x but always calls a bet with it than leading would be better.
